After a six-year hiatus, the Kazdağı Ecofestival is back. Last held in 2019 and postponed due to the pandemic and fires in the region, the festival will take place this year from August 28-30, 2025. Tents will be set up under the trees at Olcay Farm, situated on a fifty-acre site, where participants will experience a natural immersion.
The festival theme: “A Thousand Flowers, A Thousand Birds, A Thousand Varieties, A Thousand Dreams”
This year’s festival slogan is “A Thousand Flowers, A Thousand Birds, A Thousand Varieties, A Thousand Dreams.” Forums will be held as part of the program, focusing on the role of Kazdağı in the ecosystem, its biological, agricultural, and cultural diversity, the threats it faces, and potential solutions. Academics from Balıkesir University and Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, as well as representatives of civil society organizations and regional mayors, will also be participating.
The festival will begin with activities such as yoga and qigong throughout the day, followed by ecosystem tours. Participants will also be able to participate in workshops in a wide variety of areas, from ceramics and natural perfumes to breadmaking and samba rhythms, and from cartoons to non-violence workshops. Literature and poetry gatherings will also highlight the festival’s cultural dimension.
This year, for the first time, a dedicated “Children’s Street” will be prepared for children. The area will feature theater, fairy tales, music, stone painting, ceramics, chess, and street games, and children will spend the day engaged in various activities.
In the evenings, music will take center stage. The festival spirit will be heightened with concerts ranging from folk songs and folk songs to pop and rock tunes from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
